Research Scientist

We are currently looking for a “Protein Expression & Purification Specialist” to join a leading biotechnology company based in the Cambridge area. As the Protein Expression & Purification Specialist, you will be responsible for making a significant scientific contribution to exciting drug discovery projects.

Your duties as the Biology – Protein Expression & Purification Specialist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Take a lead role in the expression and purification of recombinant proteins, including multi-pass membrane proteins for structural studies.
2. Communicate effectively within the protein group and across multiple disciplines, ensuring that information on work progress is relayed clearly, highlighting any technical issues and providing potential solutions.
3. Keep abreast of and implement technology developments within the area of protein expression and purification, especially techniques involved in the production of recombinant proteins including multi-pass membrane proteins.
4. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the literature around the generation of recombinant proteins for structural studies.

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Biology – Protein Expression & Purification Specialist, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant degree in a biological science discipline.
2. Proven industry experience in protein expression and purification.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with insect and mammalian cell expression systems, and purification techniques such as affinity chromatography, ion exchange, SEC, and HIC.
